The 1889 Schoolhouse B&B retains the charm of this heritage one roomed school while comfortably welcoming guests with furnishings and art from around the world. The three bedrooms with en suite bathrooms are in the modern addition whose design compliments and blends effortlessly with the old. A superbly furnished kitchen overlooks the informal breakfast area for small groups while larger gatherings can utilize the dining area of the schoolhouse section.

Access the house and suites:
Upon arrival, each is guest is asked to ring the bell at the front door of the house. The host will greet and instruct each guest on how to proceed to enter their booked suite. Guests are not to enter the house before being greeted by the host.

There are three suites available for bookings. Suites #1 and #2 are located on the lower level with an overview to the backyard. Suite #3, located on the main floor beside the kitchen, overlooking the backyard. The house has three separate entrances. Guests of suite #1 will enter from the front entrance/door. The host will take guests through a tour showing these different entrances. Outdoor lights with sensors will turn on at night to illuminate the pathways.

About the suites:

  • Suites #2 and #3 are equipped with a King size bed. Suite #1 (lower level) is equipped with a Queen size bed.
  • All rooms are spacious with lots of day light through large windows and with an ensuite bathroom. Room #2 has a bathtub and shower. Please note that one child between the age of 9 to 13 years old can sleep in the same room as his/her parents. A cot and bedding will be provided. A charge of $75.00 will be applied for the extra child. Unfortunately, bookings with children younger than 9 years old are not available.
  • All rooms have their own T V (Netflix) and wifi & internet reception. There is a seating area with a table in each suite. Guests may also utilize the school room portion of the house in afternoons and evenings for their leisure until 11:00 PM.
  • Bookings are for a minimum of two nights stay on weekends during the high season (May to Mid-September).  A 10% discount is offered if suites are booked for one week or more. A 5% of the total rental cost for the suite is retained, before full refund, if cancellation is requested between 14 days and 8 days prior to check-in date. No refund is applied if cancellation is requested from 7 days to check-in date.

Suites rental costs:

  • King sized bed suites: $185.00 per night
  • Queen sized bed suite: $175.00 per night

Breakfast serving:

  • Guests of suites #1 and #2 will be served breakfast at separate tables (minimum 10 feet apart) located in the old school house. Guests of Suite #3 will be served breakfast at a table located in the dining area by the kitchen.

  • Guests will be served personalized breakfast as per dietary needs, when possible, in consultation with the host.

  • Breakfast is included in all bookings.

Surveillance cameras:
Surveillance cameras are installed outdoor and in common shared indoor spaces (kitchen, living room)

Additional note for potential guests:

  • Guests are not to use outdoor shoes inside the house (host supplies slippers if needed).

  • Guests are asked to bring their own towels. Guests who would like towels to be supplied by the host need to make a deposit of $50.00. This deposit is to be fully refunded once the towels are inspected by the host to have no stains on them. If stains (caused by beauty products) are found on towels upon check out, the deposit will not be refunded.

  • Please use coasters under drink containers to avoid staining or scratching room tables 

  • Please keep noise level low (respect to other guests in other rooms). Some guests might need to go to sleep early enough. 11:00 pm is the no noise rule, please observe. 

  • No pets 

  • No children under the age of 9 (see details under About the suites

  • Please note that check-in time is at 4:00 pm and check-out time is at 11:00 am. 

  • The host will do his best to make your stay a pleasant one. He is open to suggestions for any improvements that can be made for a better hospitality. 

Elora Town:
Elora offers a wonderful small town ambience and friendliness together with great restaurants, shopping, art and hiking along the gorge. Most of the town attractions can be reached by walking although parking is also available. Take time to browse and enjoy the slower pace. Elora offers excellent fishing in the river. Hot air balloon rides are also possible in the city of Cambridge. The town is a short drive to St Jacob where you can wander for hours through their busy markets and antique wares. Summer theatre and music festivals are also within walking or easy driving distance.

Getting around:
Parking is available on site. Guests may walk to the main part of town, The Elora Mill (7 minute walk), or just a short walk to the trails of the gorge. Should you prefer to drive street free parking is available.
